The Call

Underneath

It weighs less than it should. Opened at random it shows a table of what different kinds of falling do to different kinds of people, and it is difficult to explain why that is moving, but it is: somebody sat down and worked out how much a fall hurts so that you would not have to argue about it at your own table.

“Go on,” says the keeper. “The others are worth a look too.”

In your arms

  • a rulebooka slim book whose pages rearrange to fit whatever world you open it in
  • a decka deck of cards that turns strangers into a table by the third hand
  • a mapa map of a room nobody has built yet, with the furniture left to you
