The Call
The way home
The way home is a door in the side of a stall selling something you decide not to look at. It opens on your own hallway, the right length again, and the candle in your hand is an ordinary stub of wax that will not light for anybody who is on their own.
You have a deck and the candle. Not a collection — the start of an evening, and an invitation you have not sent yet.
Here is the part that is not a story. Everything up there is real, more or less: a rulebook that goes underneath whatever you already play, a table with your own maps on it, a deck for a loud evening. We make them because we wanted them on our own table. The book is free to read, all of it, because a rulebook nobody opens has not sold anybody anything.
The only thing we actually want from you is that somebody sits down opposite you this week. Bring the pizza. Get the rules wrong.
